Murray was appointed as the Managing Director of Fusion Assets in March 2014, although his involvement with the company stretches back many years. While working for Scottish Enterprise he was responsible for setting up the company in 2006 and was one of the original Board members, prior to joining Wilson Bowden Developments.
With over 25 years’ experience in planning, regeneration and development in both the public and private sectors, Murray is one of Scotland’s most experienced and respected regeneration professionals and a regular conference speaker.
Murray specialises in the complex area where the public sector interacts with the private property market, using his experience and knowledge of both sectors to unlock development opportunities through innovative financial mechanisms and joint venture structures. Under his guidance, Fusion Assets became the first organisation in Scotland to finance a development project through SPRUCE – a new urban regeneration loan fund established by the European Investment Bank and Scottish Government. Previously while working for North Lanarkshire Council he was responsible for developing the successful £73 million Tax Incremental Financing model for the Ravenscraig steelworks site – one of the first TIF schemes approved in the UK.
Martin is a qualified chartered surveyor with over 25 year experience in the all sectors of the market with almost 20 of those years being in development. He has extensive private sector experience having worked with business such as Morrison Developments, Bett properties, Robertson Properties and more recently running his own development and consultancy business.
He brings a wealth of experience across the board having undertaken speculative development, pre let schemes and forward funded projects. He has an excellent understanding of the planning and development process having taken many successful schemes from inception to completion.
His knowledge and experience of working with agents and occupiers will be instrumental in driving the business forward
and bringing scheme to the market.
Ronnie Smith has been the Chief Executive of Lanarkshire Enterprise Services Ltd (LESL) since the company was set up in 2002. LESL is an Enterprise Trust, primarily involved in providing business and economic development services to the public sector and is probably best known for its role in delivering the Business Gateway services in Lanarkshire. The company is a regular supplier of advisory and other sub contracted services to a number of other public and private sector bodies including Innovate UK, Scottish Enterprise and Cooperative Development Scotland.
Previously, Ronnie was Managing Director of Hamilton Enterprise Development Company for 10 years and before that served in Local Government for over 12 years, latterly as Head of Economic Development at East Kilbride District Council. Prior to that he worked in the construction sector and ran his own business.
A graduate of both Glasgow School of Art and The University of Stirling, he was a founder member of The Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce. Ronnie also serves currently on the Board of New College Lanarkshire and is Chairman of the Hamilton International Sports Trust. He holds several other board positions as a non executive director.
Walter Dunlop is a qualified Chartered Surveyor with over 27 years experience of the UK construction and property industry. Formerly an equity Partner of Mackenzie Partnership and a Director with the global construction company Davis Langdon (an AECOM Company) with responsibility for leading the Banking Tax and Finance Fund Monitoring and Construction Business Recovery Team in Scotland. Walter has developed a considerable track record in the field of property finance and investment across a variety of sectors and has gained an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the key issues that drive the development process from both a public and private sector perspective.
Scott Duguid qualified as a Chartered Valuation Surveyor in 1974 and spent the first 12 years of his career as a Surveyor in Local Government . Since then he has worked in Private Practice throughout West Central Scotland carrying out Valuation and Development work . He is currently working as a Consultant Valuation Surveyor dealing with valuations of all types of commercial and industrial property. Amongst other outside interests he is a Past President of Dalziel Rugby Club and still retains an active interest as Corporate Convener for the Club.
